Livi baby tracker: privacy

In short

This app records information about a child, so we keep what leaves your phone to a minimum.

Without an account, nothing leaves your phone. With an account, your entries are stored online so that the people you add can see them. The app shows small ads on a few screens, and has no analytics. Nothing about your baby or your log is ever used for ads.

What stays on your phone

Everything you log (babies, entries, notes, photos, items, reminders and settings) is kept in a private database on your phone that only this app can read.

Reminders are notifications scheduled by your phone. They are not sent over the internet.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional. It is how you share the log with a partner and keep an online copy. We then store:

Your email address, and your name in the home. The home itself, and the babies in it (name, date of birth, and optionally sex, due date and a photo). Every entry and note, your items, reminders and shared settings. The photos you add. If you turn on alerts, a code that identifies your phone to the push service.

You sign in with a 6-digit code sent to your email. There is no password.

Who can see it

Only the people in your home. The owner adds people by email, up to three in all, and everyone in the home can see and add everything in it.

Nobody else can see it. We do not sell it, share it for advertising or use it to build profiles.

Who handles it for us

Supabase hosts the online database and the photo storage, in the European Union (Ireland).

Resend sends your sign-in code by email, so it sees your email address and the code.

Google AdMob shows the small ads (see Ads below). It never receives anything you log.

If you turn on alerts, a short message such as "Jeni logged a feed", with the baby's name, goes through Expo's push service and then Google (or Apple) to reach the other person's phone.

Each of them handles only what it needs to do that job, and none of them may use it for anything else. Some of them are based outside Europe, for example in the United States, and rely on the standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard for that transfer.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you delete a home, everything in it is deleted, including its photos. When you delete your account, your sign-in is deleted along with any home you own.

We keep no backups of the online data, so what you delete is gone.

Your choices

You can turn sync off or sign out at any time. Both keep everything on your phone and online.

To delete what is stored online, open Settings, then Account and sync, then Delete online data. You can delete the home or your whole account. This never deletes what is on your phone.

To erase everything on your phone, use "Delete all data on this phone" at the bottom of Settings.

You can export all your data at any time, as a backup file or as CSV files, from Settings.

If the law where you live gives you rights over your personal data, such as to see it, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, restrict it or object to how it is used, you can use them by writing to us. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Why we use it, and how it is protected

We use what you enter only to run the app for you: to show it to you and the people you add, to keep it in step between your phones, and to send the alerts and sign-in codes you ask for. What you log about a baby can reveal health information, such as feeds, sleep, temperature and medication. By signing in and adding it, you ask us to store it for that purpose, and you can withdraw that at any time by deleting it, as described below.

Everything sent between the app and the online service travels over an encrypted connection. Rules in the database let each person read only the homes they belong to. The host encrypts stored data. No system is perfectly safe, so we keep what we hold to what the app needs.

What the app does not collect

No contacts, no exact location, no usage analytics and no crash reports. The ads use your phone's advertising ID, as described under Ads. The app asks for permission to use the camera (only when you add a photo) and to show notifications (only for reminders and alerts). You can refuse either and still use the rest.

Ads

The app shows small banner ads from Google AdMob on three screens: the Log, Charts and Highlights. There are none on the home screen, in the forms where you log something, or in Settings, and none in the first day after you install the app.

To show an ad, Google may use your phone's advertising ID and your approximate location, worked out from your internet connection. Nothing about your baby or your log is ever sent to Google or used to choose an ad: no names, dates, entries or photos. The app is for parents and carers, and is not directed at children.

Where the law asks for it, for example in the EU, the UK and the EEA, the app asks for your consent before it shows ads, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings, under Ads. You can also reset or turn off your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Google explains what it does in its own privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy.

Children

This app is for parents and carers. It holds information about a child, but a parent or carer enters it. It is not made for children to use, and we do not knowingly collect information from children themselves.

Who is responsible

Deepan, Amsterdam, the Netherlands is responsible for how this app handles your data.

Questions and requests

For any question about privacy, or to ask for your data to be corrected or deleted, write to hello@speelio.com. We answer within a month.

You can also delete your online data yourself, at any time, from Settings, as described above.
